Is this common or is there some reason anyone else has discovered? I just cant comprehend why one day could be so great yet every other day mediocore.

It is based on profits and sales.

It all depends on their ad budget and how effective the advertising medium is to them. They would not keep on advertising on a site that isn't working unless they are just trying to get their name out there.
